Wanted: Highly effective Trident graduate looking to attack metrics with a vengeance – increase employee retention by 30%, cut recruiting time in half, raise overall productivity by 30%, and reduce absenteeism by 25%.
 
This month’s message from the Dean highlights one of the brightest stars in the College of Business – the Human Resource Management Programs. Our Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in HRM prepare students for careers that are critical to all kinds of organizations, feature good salaries, and are in high demand.
 
Both of Trident’s HRM degrees (BSHRM and MSHRM) are recognized by the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM, the largest association dedicated to the HR profession), and are highly recommended as being aligned with their academic guidelines. Additionally, we prepare students for the educational requirements of the HR Certification Institute’s Professional in Human Resources exam (HRCI—PHR), SHRM’s Assurance of Learning® exam, as well as the SHRM Certified Professionals exam (SHRM--CP).
 
The future looks very bright for HRM graduates. The job outlook for HR managers, for example, is a 9% increase from 2016-2026, higher than the national job growth average. Job growth for Training and Development Managers is projected to be 10% over the next decade. The 2016 median annual salary was $106,910 per year (Bureau of Labor Statistics, Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2018). HR professionals are employed in a large variety of industries including corporations, local governments, hospitals, employment services, and computer systems design.
 
Careers are not just in Personnel. The HRM degree builds problem solving, leadership, and interpersonal skills. HR generalists can and often do climb the ladder to management roles in a variety of fields. Specialists can focus on the areas that interest them the most: teaching and training, negotiation, consulting, recruiting, even metrics and data analysis. Regardless of individual goals, graduates can expect to share their expertise in finding and hiring the right people, shape workplace culture, and partner with strategic decision-makers. Students who earn their BSHRM or MSHRM from Trident know it takes specialized skills and abilities to effectively link talent with organizational success. They are preparing for rewarding careers in many management fields where staffing, talent development, employee rewards, and employee relations have an impact on organizational success.

Meet the Trident Military Outreach Team – Arcadio Rigual

Trident’s Outreach Team is made up of former military service members who represent Trident across the United States. They understand the importance of education and are committed to supporting Trident students, alumni, and prospective students. In the next few issues of Trident TODAY, I will introduce each Outreach team member to you.
 
Arcadio Rigual, known by his friends and colleagues as Al, is the Western Regional Manager for Strategic Military and Community Relations. He has been with Trident University for five years. After his 21-year career in the Army, which culminated as Station Commander for the Southern California Recruiting Operations, Al served as a JROTC instructor at Anaheim Union High School before embarking on his passion with voluntary and post-secondary education.
 
In this arena he served with the Art Institute of California, New Bridge College, and Spartan College before finding his current home here with TUI. Al has a BS in Management from Phoenix University and is currently working on his MS in Leadership at TUI. He also has several certifications including the Designated Subjects Teaching Credential from CSU Long Beach and an Extended Learning Certificate from San Francisco University.
 
Al loves boating, fishing, and playing basketball, and he and his family take a mountain trek each year to reconnect, recharge the batteries, and enjoy the outdoors. He covers all military and veteran affairs for TUI from California north to Washington, northeast to Montana, and southeast to Nevada. Military Success Scholarship

Trident University is dedicated to helping our students reach their educational goals. So dedicated in fact, that we are offering a great scholarship opportunity for the 2018 Military Fiscal Year. The Military Success Scholarship (MSS) was created to encourage academic progress and continuous enrollment for eligible undergraduate Active Duty, Reserve, and National Guard members currently serving in the U.S. Armed Services, while also minimizing out of pocket costs.
 
What does it take to earn MSS? Commitment! Commit to staying on track with your educational plan and maintain a minimum of 2.0 GPA. Beginning October 1, 2017 when you successfully complete four courses (16 semester credits), a $500 scholarship will be applied to your 5th course and beyond through September 30, 2018.
 
If you are eligible for Military Tuition Assistance (TA) Benefits, we encourage you to utilize your benefits. We also suggest you complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to see if you are eligible for FREE Pell Grant money that you do not have to pay back. Our knowledgeable Student Finance Advisors will provide you alternative options to cover the cost of tuition that your TA and MSS does not cover.

  • About recent or past milestones
  • What challenges they are facing
  • What are the needs of the organization

Celebrate Your Hard Work! The time has come to acknowledge and celebrate your hard work, sacrifice and commitment to reaching your academic goals! Please join us and walk the stage in the 2018 Trident University International Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, July 14th at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa, CA. 
This year's commencement ceremony is going to be a very special event with a number of special features:
    • Presidential coin given to each graduate by the President of Trident
    • Two student speakers
    • Video highlights of some students and their path to graduation
    • Hooding ceremony for Ph.D. students
    • Opportunity to meet with fellow graduates, faculty, advisors, and others from Trident 
Eligible participants of this year's commencement ceremony are bachelors and masters students in their final session on or before the August 8-week Fastrac session. Doctoral students must complete all requirements, including successful defense of dissertation by June 11, 2018. You will receive an email message confirming receipt of your RSVP.
