Happy 2017 Trident Community!

We hope you had a wonderful holiday season. We are particularly grateful for those of you that weren’t able to be home because you were serving our country.

For so many of us, New Year’s resolutions quickly fade as we fall back into our old patterns. From experience, I’ve learned that before committing to a resolution or goal, it is important to ask myself the following questions:

  • How passionate am I about achieving the resolution or goal?
  • What am I willing to change to ensure I achieve the resolution or goal?
At Trident, we are passionate about improving your student experience and plan to make significant improvements over the coming year. Some of the things we are working on include:
  • Course content and structure improvements to enhance learning outcomes
  • A programmatic scheduling process to provide a clear path to graduation
  • Improved communication channels and processes so you can stay up-to-date
  • Additional mobile tools to make attending class anywhere and anytime more accessible
  • Alumni scholarships and social communities
These enhancements represent a significant effort to focus Trident resources on improving your experience and helping you achieve your educational goals. We are excited for 2017 and the opportunity to be a part of your educational journey. Here’s to a year full of great successes!

Career Center Corner

Happy New Year, Happy New Career! No matter where you are on your career journey, it isn’t too early, or too late, to take steps to strengthen your career outcomes. The Center for Career Planning and Workforce Strategies is here to assist you in designing and developing the career you desire, and delivering the results for your organization that only you can! In 2017 you have a new opportunity to position yourself for success in your chosen career and at your current or future job. It is time to be more intentional about the outcomes you want to achieve and deliver.
The Career Center provides you with tools to help you take charge of your career, from the Virtual Career Center that provides connections with hundreds of employers, thousands of job openings, and a variety of resources in the library, to the Career Beam Career Development System which provides assessments, instruction, exercises, research and reports to help you determine your career direction along with builders for resumes and cover letters and the ability to conduct mock interviews within the system. The Virtual Career Center and Career Beam are both accessible through the Student Portal in the Tools and Links section at the bottom left of the page.
Speaking of interview preparation, we have a special treat for you… Big Interview! Big Interview is a tool designed to help you prepare for your interviews across industries, including the government. We have a special access to Big Interview that allows you full access to the tool which gives you, along with the opportunity to practice your interview skills, curriculum, readings, how-to tips for specific questions, and the ability to build an interview story. And just like in Career Beam, when you record a mock interview, you can submit it to the Career Center for evaluation and feedback. You can access Big Interview at You will need to create an account using your email address.
Another way the Center for Career Planning and Workforce Strategies helps you prepare for your career advancement is through Webinars and Employer Information Sessions. We already have some great sessions planned for the new year, including an Employer Information Session on January 11th featuring CareerSource where you will learn about the wide variety of opportunities available through CareerSource and the innovative programs they have in place to help you employ your skills. On January 25th, we will offer an Employer Information Session with the Los Angeles office of the FBI. Don’t worry if you are not interested in becoming a Special Agent, there are so many different career paths in the FBI, you are likely to find yours through this webinar.
A final tool in our arsenal to help you gain employment is Career Fairs. You may think that since we are on online institution, we can’t connect you to employers through career fairs, but we can, and we do! On March 29th, 2017 we are offering our second Virtual Career Fair to help you connect with our recruiting partners. Now, you already know we do not offer placement, and we cannot guarantee employment, however we are able to give you the opportunity to speak directly with recruiters from top companies across the country. Keep an eye out for more information and sign up to participate. Last Virtual Career Fair we had representatives registered from CVS, Xerox, Harris County Sherrif’s Office, Accountemps, Office Team, Just Energy, NCR, and our own Trident University International. We are planning on making the upcoming fair bigger and better. We are reaching out to hundreds of employers and will soon provide a list of those invited. By the end of February we will have a list of those committed to participate. So get your resume ready and plan to connect with recruiters from the companies you are interested in working for.
As always, we invite your input – let us know how the Career Center can better serve you and connect with us so that we can help to give you the C.O.D.E. (connections, opportunities, development, education) for Career Success!

A Little History

Touro University International > TUI > Trident University International

TUI was established in July 1998 by Dr. Yoram Neumann. The first headquarters was opened and put into operation in Los Alamitos, California. TUI began as Touro University International, a branch campus of Touro College, a New York non-profit educational corporation. In January 2011, TUI announced, “TUI" is now Trident University International.

In February 2005, Trident became accredited by WASC Senior College and University Commission  (WSCUC). Trident's outstanding reputation as one of the top online universities along with its WSCUC accreditation makes Trident the best choice for thousands of students around the world.

Trident is a U.S. based, globally available leader in online education. Students choose Trident University because it has been well respected and admired by students, faculty, staff, and employers throughout its history. In 2006, Trident celebrated with a new IT system upgrade to support 20,000 students and 1,000 faculty members.

In early 2015, Trident announced the new Fastrac session structure; a shortened 8-week academic session instead of 12-weeks.
